R.I.P. Busbee

On September 29, 2019, the world lost an influential songwriter in Michael James Ryan, professionally known as Busbee.

As previously reported, the Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer died Sunday (Sept. 29) at age 43. He was reportedly diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, a few months ago.

Busbee wrote 14 songs that broke Billboard's Hot 100 chart including "Try" performed by P!nk, which reached No. 9, and "H.O.L.Y" performed by Florida Georgia Line, which reached No. 14. He also produced and recorded Maren Morris' song "Girl" in the Sound Emporium A room. "Girl" reached No. 1 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart.

Busbee was a long time member of the Sound Emporium family, and has been for as long as he lived in Nashville. He will be dearly missed.
