Congrats to Studio family member, Kacey Musgraves, on winning a CMA award for Album of the Year! Kacey and other studio family members and co-producers Ian Fitchuck and Daniel Tashian, all deserve a lot of credit. Golden Hour has seen great deal of success, selling over 107,000 copies so far since its release in March.
While the win is obviously a big deal for Musgraves, “it’s also a big deal for the industry.” In recent years, country music has received backlash for its “very visible gender imbalance. Women only make up approximately 10 percent of the songs played on country radio; streaming playlists and festival lineups are also skewed male.” [Washington Post]
Kacey Musgrave’s win in the highly competitive Album of the Year category was undoubtedly well deserved.
