Juanita Copeland
Studio Manager
Juanita has been in Nashville since 1990 and worked for Mercury Records, Almo Sounds Records, Pioneer Music Group, GMF Music, Prince Frog Music, in addition to her time as Studio Manager here at the Sound Emporium. A life-long lover of all music, she brings a passion to her work that is second to none. After hours, she also provides production assistant services to several well-known Nashville producers and engineers. She brings a very well-rounded plethora of experience to her position as General Manager and to quote Robert Plant...."Juanita is always cheery and makes you feel so welcome whenever you are at the Sound Emporium."
Matt Andrews
Chief Engineer
Matt started work at Sound Emporium in 1995 after 10 years in New York City. A Grammy winner (4-time nominee, including 2012 - Best Engineered Recording), Matt has worked on projects that have sold more than 20 million copies and is a strong supporter of analog tape. He also does ProTools work on a variety of film sets - everything from "Walk The Line" to "Big Momma's House 3". Matt is currently working on the ABC drama "Nashville".
Sean Shannon
Studio Tech
Born and raised in Indiana, Sean brings over a decade of audio electronic experience to the team at Sound Emporium. Sean has a degree in Electronic Engineering from DeVry Institute of Technology in Columbus, Ohio and a degree in Audio Engineering from Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California. Sean worked at Conway Studios and Westlake Studios in California before coming to Tennessee.
Zack Dewall
Staff Engineer
Zack DeWall has assisted on projects ranging from small and independent to Grammy nominated. He maintains a firm grasp of analog recording--including full tape machine calibration, Flying Faders automation and total recall. After getting the session set up and running, Zack will adapt to the engineer and artist's needs--from fly on the wall to tea boy to tape operator. With a BBA from just down the road at Belmont University, training on the very same equipment found in Sound Emporium, Zack is ready to assist any project with pride and respect.
Cassidi R. Spurlock
Staff Engineer
Cassidi received her Bachelor’s Degree from Full Sail University in Orlando, FL, where she majored in the Recording Arts. During her time at Full Sail, she received Course Director Awards in Critical Listening, Art History, Music Copyright and Publishing, and Advanced Audio Post-Production. She is thrilled to call Nashville her new home, however, she will proudly be wearing blue on Kentucky/Vandy game days. (GO CATS!) Cassidi is looking forward to all the good vibes and music to be made here at the Sound Emporium.
Mike Stankiewicz
Staff Engineer
Mike spent the summer of 2011 in Nashville interning on Music Row. During that summer he was able to gain invaluable experience on sessions. After heading back to Boston to complete his Bachelor's Degree in Music Production & Engineering at Berklee College of Music, Mike returned to Nashville and joined the team at Sound Emporium. He is very excited to be part of the staff and strives to help keep the studio one of Music City's most legendary places to make great music.
Ronnie Pinnell
Staff Engineer
During his tenure at the University of Dayton, where he majored in Communications and Music Technology, Ronnie oversaw the operation of the student run recording facility, Street Sounds. During his 4 year run at UD, he engineered and produced a variety of projects. This enthusiasm and love for music lead him to Nashville after graduation in 2012. After arriving in Music City, Ronnie joined the Sound Emporium staff and is extremely excited to be part of the team at such a legendary studio.
Derek Parnell
Staff Engineer
Derek is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University’s Audio Production program. While attending college, he gained experience on both sides of the glass as an engineer and guitar player. After receiving his Bachelors Degree, Derek landed a job here and could not be more excited to help carry on the tradition of such a historic facility. We are proud to have him as part of our studio family!
